If you are
unhappy with the appearance of your teeth there are numerous
ways in which our Hampstead dentists can improve them.
For example, we can apply veneers to reduce or close gaps between
teeth. This is a simple procedure that involves a thin layer
of porcelain being bonded to the front surface of the tooth.
| Another procedure is 'crowning'
which can be used to improve a tooth's aesthetic appearance.
The natural tooth is contoured slightly so that the crown
can fit snugly on top. All our crowns are crafted by highly
skilled technicians and are therefore the same colour
and shape as your existing teeth. |

|
| If you have a missing tooth
or teeth, our dentists can give you a bridge, where a
'false' tooth is supported on either side by your existing
teeth. Alternatively, an implant can be placed (see implant
section). We believe that everyone should be able to smile
confidently and we have a team of experts who will work
with you to ensure you have plenty to smile about. |

Perfect white teeth are no longer a luxury
of the rich and famous. Discoloured teeth can be caused
by any number of factors and in most cases can be removed
or reduced through the use of tooth whitening gels. We
have a choice of treatments available some of which we
carry out in the surgery, some of which you do at home.
Treatment involves applying a whitening solution to your
teeth which we then 'cure' with a special light. The treatment
is completely painless and there's no need for anaesthesia
of any kind. The treatment takes about an hour, after
which your teeth will immediately be whiter.
Treatment at home is equally simple and pain-free. An
impression is taken of your upper and lower teeth from
which a tray for each is made. The tray is then filled
with gel and placed in the mouth. The length of time you
wear the trays and the duration of treatment will depend
on your individual requirements, though most people will
wear them for at least four hours on five consecutive
days. |
A tooth that has become decayed will generally need to be filled,
once the decay has been removed, to prevent further damage.
| At the practice we use
white ('composite') fillings in most instances to fill
a previously decayed tooth. We can also remove any unsightly
silver ('amalgam') fillings that are visible and replace
them with a composite. A white filling can also be used
in some circumstances to repair chipped teeth. Our team
of Hampstead dentists will be happy to advise on the suitability
of such treatment. |
