orthodontics-in-hampsteadAt RP Advanced Dental, Dr Fern Jean-Joseph is our registered specialist in orthodontics, with over 20 years’ experience in her field. Fern likes to provide a higher level of care that brings out the best, not just in a person’s teeth and mouth, but in their whole facial profile. Thus, Fern combines orthodontic treatments with facial aesthetic treatments.

For example, a combination dental facelift treatment from Fern might involve pulling in protruding teeth with Incognito Lingual braces. These braces work on the bracket and wire system, whereby brackets are fixed to the teeth and wires threaded through the brackets. The wires are then tightened and the force from the wires pulls the teeth into their desired new position. The wonderful thing about these braces is that they are fixed to the inside of the teeth and so are completely hidden from casual view.

This orthodontic treatment could then be combined with a facial aesthetic treatment to further enhance the smile. For example, the patient may have been a smoker and now has smoking lines around their lips, which detract from their now beautifully straight teeth better if they were a little fuller. Fern would address this cosmetic issue by using a facial filler such as Restylane, the active ingredient of which is hyaluronic acid. This is an acid which is naturally produced in the body and builds connections between skins cells and locks in moisture. As we age, our natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases. However, injections of Restylane from your Hampstead dentist plump out these smoking lines (and other wrinkles) so that they become much less noticeable, or perhaps even disappear. Treatments can last up to two years.

The dental facelift is available at your Hampstead dentist, and an initial consultation can help you decide which treatments would work together best to help you achieve the smile you have always wanted.

How your cosmetic dentist can subtly straighten your teeth

A cosmetic dentist has many subtle ways in which they can straighten your teeth. Orthodontics no longer has to mean obvious metal braces, and at RP Advanced Dental and Implant Centre in Hampstead we have helped scores of adults to achieve the beautifully-aligned smile they’ve always dreamt of – without the whole world knowing they are having treatment.

Orthodontics – not just for teenagers

Orthodontic treatmentcosmetic dentist is now standard for children and teenagers in the UK, but what if you have missed out on treatment in your youth, or you’ve had treatment only to find that your teeth have gone back to their original position?

The thought of wearing traditional metal “train-track” braces for two years or more is enough to put many adults off seeking treatment. That’s why, at our Hampstead dental practice, your cosmetic dentist can offer a number of more discreet routes to straighter teeth.

Braces or aligners?

Discreet orthodontics is one of the fastest advancing areas of modern dentistry. It uses either braces or aligners to gently move your teeth into a better position. When you come in for a consultation with a cosmetic dentist at our Hampstead clinic, they will carefully examine you before talking through all appropriate treatment options.

Among the adult orthodontic devices available at our Hampstead clinic are:

Lingual braces

Lingual braces can correct minor to major orthodontic concerns. They work the same way as standard braces, but are attached to the rear surfaces of the teeth, meaning they are invisible in daily life.

Invisalign

Your cosmetic dentist may recommend Invisalign clear aligners, which fit over your teeth and guide them into a new position. As well as being unnoticeable to the untrained eye, Invisalign aligners are removable, which means you can take them out to eat and drink, to clean, and to brush your teeth, helping you maintain good dental hygiene.
